Making History Real:

Jamestown Comes to Rockbridge!

This project made history real for the fourth grade students of Rockbridge County. The teachers had taught the material in class but when the presenter from Jamestown was there with replica artifacts, assigning roles to students, allowing students to be a part of the story of the settlement of our country from the perspective of the three major groups involved, the students really began to understand and connect.

Kind Words

“The Jamestown outreach program reinforced the roles of the countries and people in the creation and survival of the Jamestown settlement. Students got to be an active participant in recounting the history and got to ask any questions they had about the topic. This was an amazing opportunity to reinforce and add onto the information the students knew about Jamestown.”
